About

My name is Nicole Kane and I am a Mom and wife who juggles a full-time career with running a home. I wish I had the patience to be a stay at home Mom (seriously the toughest job ever), but I completely envy how they run their homes and do my best to keep it all together or at least look like it is. I guess you could say I am the modernized version of June Cleaver or probably more Morticia Addams, who works hard at everything. I wish I could say I also play hard, but these days the only time I play hard at is chasing my 2 year old, but I wouldn’t change it for anything.

Health and living a healthy lifestyle is a focus for me and it started when I was diagnosed with bladder cancer at 25. It changed my life, the way I thought, and how I treated those around me. I didn’t always live a healthy lifestyle over the last 8 years (possibly drank too much, I do love my grey goose and sodas), but after having my daughter in 2010, I wanted to stack the odds in her favor and the food we use to fuel our bodies is a good way to do that. I am sure you have heard about GMO’s, hormones and pesticides, but I did extensive research and truly believe each of them are detrimental to our health and will lead to an ever-increasing rate of cancer. I buy 100% organic, thanks to most stores selling it just as cheap as regular items, I buy no items that use GMO’s (thank you Trader Joes), and I don’t eat much meat and what I do eat is local, hormone free and grass-fed. I also only buy wild freshly caught fish. I know it seems like a lot and expensive, but it isn’t, and when you take in account what the alternative can and will do to your body, makes it totally worth it. I urge you to do the same, but even if you don’t and you just stop by for an occassional recipe, that is ok. We all make choices based on what is best for us and that is totally ok by me! 🙂
